Maple Castella Bakery

Of all the Chinese bakeries, Maple Castella is one of my favorites mainly because of their pumpkin bread and taro bread. Located at McKim Way in Admiralty Center, this bakery should be on top of everyone's list when it comes to Chinese bakeries.

I had a sudden craving for their pumpkin bread the other day so I called in early in the day to reserve to make sure they still had some left for me to buy.
Their pumpkin bread is so good that it's sold out all the time so people usually call in to reserve.
The amount of pumpkin chunks that they bake into the bread makes it so moist and tender to eat that it's really hard to not finish the whole loaf.

Other than their pumpkin bread and taro bread, their pumpkin seed cookies are also very very good.. compared to other bakeries, I prefer Maple Castella's version of this better.
Their blueberry bread is also a must try item in their store (It's like a combination of a pineapple bun and a blueberry bread that's baked together).

If you haven't had a chance to go try Maple Castella yet, I'd suggest to go give it a try! You'll be glad you did!

Northern Delicacy (Aberdeen Center)

Another Shanghai restaurant that me and my family usually go to is Northern Delicacy in Aberdeen Center. Their dimsum and handmade noodles are on the top of my list whenever I go have lunch or even dinner at this restaurant. Today however, we decided to order their main dishes instead of ordering the usual stuff that we normally get.
 Green Beans with Minced Pork
 Hot and Sour Soup
Sweet and Sour fried fish - not as good as I expected.. too much sauce and so little fish.
 Tofu and Mushrooms
Crispy Duck

Wo Fung Dessert (Aberdeen Center)

The other day me and my mom decided to go have Wo Fung Dessert for lunch at Aberdeen Center.
Wo Fung is quite famous for their fried chicken wings.. but we didn't really felt like eating anything fried today so we just ordered their noodles (with 3 toppings) as well as their marinated wings and eggs instead. They also have this red carbonated drink that taste really good.. (I forgot what it was called but I have a picture of it! :D)
Noodles with fish cake, beef tripe, and squid balls

Suhang Restaurant

Suhang is one of my favorite go to places for Shanghai food! This place not only has one of the best services in most Shanghai restaurants but also one of the best tasting restaurant in Richmond. I've been to Suhang for how many times now.. and the service and food haven't changed one bit. This time however, me and my family decided to have an impromptu celebration at home so when my mom asked me what kind of food we wanted to order in, I quickly suggested Suhang.. since I was craving their beggar's chicken for quite some time now.  Even though we ordered take out this time.. the food was still amazing and well cooked.. plus, the manager was kind enough to give us 2 free desserts to take home as well so my customer service rating for this place is still pretty good (so far). Although parking is quite tight, this restaurant should be on everyone's list of go to Shanghai restaurants in Richmond.

Marinated Bean Curd with Special Vegetables
Pea Tips
Spare Rib with Vinegar Sauce
Braised Pork Hock with Brown Sauce
Mud-Baked Chicken Hangzhou Style (Beggar's Chicken)

Sockeye City

I think the last time that I was in Steveston was probably summer of 2011.. so when my sister suggested to go have lunch at Sockeye City, I didn't really mind since I was pretty much stuffed with Chinese food for the past two weeks.. so having western food was a nice break from all the rice and noodles that I have been having lately. The restaurant has a nice view of the wharf, so the scenery of the place along with the view was quite a nice environment/ambiance for it's customers. The service of this restaurant (for me) was great since the server that we got was very friendly, polite and quick. My rating for the food overall was pretty good.. although it wasn't the best that I've had in Vancouver, it still wasn't bad. The price is also pretty cheap based on the taste and amount of food that you get.. I'd say this place is pretty reasonable and worth going back to.

Deer Garden Signatures

Deer Garden is actually one of my favorite places to go to (and hot pot) especially now in this cold rainy weather in Vancouver. This restaurant currently have two branches in Richmond, one on Alexandra Rd and one on Sexsmith Rd (Continental Plaza). If you compare the two  Deer Gardens, the only difference of the two is the parking space available on each location. The branch on Sexsmith Rd (Continental Plaza) compared to the Alexandra Rd one has more parking space available.. which is good! So most of the time I tend to just head over to the Sexsmith Rd branch so that I won't have to get frustrated over having to look for a parking space on the Alexandra Rd location. Every time we go to Deer Garden however, we usually have to wait for quite a while before getting a table because of the amount of people that always go to this place! Although the wait is quite long sometimes.. I think this place is worth the wait.. especially if your looking for some reasonably priced Chinese food that you can customize according to your liking.
